I actually started writing this entry over a week ago during exam period. Escapism insisted on me thinking about seiyuu instead of glycolysis. =D

This is totally gonna make me sound like a seiyuu ota... and it might be really boring. =D

Oh, and I despise how exteen doesn't have something like LJ cut....

Top 5 Favourite, not necessarily in order:

Mitsuishi Kotono - An excellent seiyuu whose voice I would recognise anywhere. Her Mireille's voice makes me melt. So sexy. It's almost unbelievable that this is the voice of Sailor Moon, lol. She also does angst so well, especially Jury's conflicted angsting. So proud, so strong, yet so fragile. She does tough, sexy women so well.

My favourite role by her: Katsuragi Misato (NGE)...

Hisakawa Aya - I would recognise Hisakawa-san's voice anywhere as well. Her voice seems to have this special quality that can be so cool yet feminine at the same time. She's also pretty versatile while being distinctive to me. Being able to do Chloe (Noir), Kero-chan Osaka-ben FTW!!! (CCS) and Miki (Utena) is pretty impressive.

My favourite role by her: her performance as Chloe in that last scene still drives me to tears, and I've seriously lost count of how many times I've watched it. T-T

Kuwashima Houko - Her voice is really versatile and I can never tell it's her. Cute, hyper, feminine, boyish, she's done them all. Not the mention that I think she's got mad voice-acting skills. So good.

My favourite role: at the moment, Kirika (Noir), but Claire (Claymore) is growing on me.

Those three are my favourite 'old school' seiyuu, I suppose and they're all in Noir, just one of the many reasons to love that awesome anime.

Noto Mamiko - That soft quality of Noto-san's voice makes her recoginisable anywhere. Although that very quality doesn't allow her to do a very wide range of different voice types, I find it to be very charming and it makes me feel fuzzy. Even still, her Enma Ai (Jigoku Shoujo) is creey, her Yakumo (School Rumble) is adorable and her Hatsuki (YamiBou) is rather cool.

Favourite role: Toudou Shimako (Marimite), but this may be more because I like Shimako, lol..

Koshimizu Ami - From Tenma (School Rumble) to Paraietta (Simoun) to Kellen (Code Geass) and to Kanako (Marimite), Ami-chan can make her voice sound anyway she wants. There is just something about her voice that gets me. She also seems like a woman who knows what she wants in real life and is not afraid to show it.

Favourite role: Hmm... I would like to say Kellen but Tenma is darn awesome after all.

Seiyuu I respect, are ones that I may not be fangirling over much but whom I think are great, if not amazing, seiyuu:

Hayashibara Megumi - For this person, I think I can pretty much just mention her name and leave it at that, lol. Anyway, she did Ayanami Rei (NGE). I rest my case.

Ogata Megumi - Shinji (NGE) ----> Emeraude-hime (MKR) HOW?? She's one of those female seiyuu who can do voices for slightly effiminine male characters. Her Yukito/Yue in CCS? LOVE.

Yukana - the Range. I don't think much of her voice, but how she could go from Mashiro to Fumi (Mai-HiME) in half a second scared me.

+

Seiyuu I like, for whatever reasons:

Tamura Yukari - Tamura Yukari is..... Tamura Yukari - -) I quite like her as Midori from Mai-HiME and her voice has that genki quality which can be rather endearing. Although she's casted for 'moe' characters most of the time, her MO Midori is not bad and her tsundere Tomari (Kashimashi) is quite something.

Mizuki Nana - I have not really seen much of her seiyuu work but, girl, can she sing. She can be soft and cute, but she can also be cool in a strong, confident kind of way. With her voice, Fate's (Nanoha) coolness factor goes up 200 folds when she's fighting.

Shimizu Kaori - She was Lain (adorably huggable), she was Signum (the hottest thing in Nanoha A's) and she was Noriko (whom I would really love to see more of). But really, I may have just put her in here because of this clip of her and Mizuki Nana. =D

Nakahara Mai - Her voice's got spunk. I like it. On that note though, her and Noto's characters in sola (yes, lower case) are quite surprising. They are rather different to the seiyuus' previous roles. I would have liked to see what Nakahara would do with her character but, even with a cast consisting of her, Noto, Shimizu Ai and Koshizumi Ami, sola is teh suckage and I completely lost interest after a few episodes. The only reason I decided to give this series a try was the cast, really... but, alas, that can only get you so far.

Sawashiro Miyuki - Why, her Shinku (Rozen Maiden) does make me want to become her Medium slave, indeed.

Tanaka Rie - Another sexy voice, although Tanaka-san's is more in a cool kind. And who can forget how creepy psychotic Tomoe (Mai-Otome) and Suigintou (Rozen Maiden) can sound...

Honouary mention:

Hirano Aya

Toyoguchi Megumi (and that concludes the White Rose family)

Shindou Naomi

Paku Romi

Ueda Kana

There's no male seiyuu in the list because... well, they sorta all sound the same to me >_>;;

That, and I don't find them moe.

With the recent news about the ARTSVISION CEO arrested for sexual assault (sadly, more often than not, it's not the 'first time' for this kind of thing), I wonder what kind of repercussions there are going to be for the seiyuu. Already, rumours are surfacing regarding Horie Yui...

I admit that I've never really been a fan of Horie. I thought she's ok, but that's just about it. However... I don't particularly care who has been taken advantaged and who has taken advantage since we'll probably never really know and so it wouldn't matter much. I just hope that the seiyuu, especially the ones I like and the ones who deserve to, will be able to get through this well enough.
